Episode 045: Conn Smythe Trophy

Conn Smythe bought one of the only remaining two founding franchises of the National Hockey League. He changed their name to the Maple Leafs, and built them a palace they'd call home until almost the turn of the next century. For his contributions to the game of hockey, the NHL honors him with the Conn Smythe Trophy; it is awarded annually to the MVP of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Episode 044: James Norris Memorial Trophy

First, James E. Norris became a millionaire in the grain industry. Then, he saved professional hockey in Detroit. Then, he transformed his team into one of the lasting jewels of the league. For that, The James Norris Memorial Trophy is part of his legacy. It is awarded annually to the top defenseman in the NHL. Less than thirty men have been skilled enough to win it.

The Art Ross Trophy was donated to the NHL by its namesake, Art Ross. The trophy serves as the award for the regular season scoring champion. Whomever has the most points (goals+assists) at the end of the regular schedule, walks away with the hardware.
