Episode 055: Attila Ambrus (Part I) The Pauper, The Goalie, The Smuggler

Attila Ambrus was born into abject poverty in Fitód, Romania in 1967. Communism was the law of the land into his twenties. When he was 21 years old, Attila fled Romania to neighboring Hungary, and shortly after his arrival, communism fell. With capitalism creating a brave new world for everyone, Attila quickly figured out that if he wanted a piece of the "Hungarian Dream", he'd have to take it. Follow Attila's story through part one of this four-part series, in which we meet our hero, see him dragged through nearly every possible type of mud, muck, bile, and pain...and somehow come out shining on the other side.
