Episode 051: The Mashup

The finale of the "Trophies and Awards" series is here at long last. It's called "The Mash-Up" and it feels so good to finally put this to rest. I began the trophy episodes over a year ago and, at times, I thought I'd quit and never make it. I'm very glad to be finished. Thank you all for sticking with me. The Mash-Up covers several remaining trophies that just aren't old enough, or don't have a lot of great stories behind them, to warrant their own, stand-alone episodes. So, I've combined the William M. Jennings Trophy, the NHL Foundation Player Award, the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, the Mark Messier Leadership Award, the NHL General Manager of the Year Award, and the E.J. McGuire Award of Excellence. As a final send-off to the episode, I recap the 2017 NHL Awards, and have a special THIRTY-TWO MINUTE section on the 2017 Stanley Cup champions Pittsburgh Penguins, which harkens back to the original Stanley Cup episodes that kicked-off the "Trophies and Awards" series over a year ago.

Episode 050: King Clancy Memorial Trophy

Francis Michael Clancy was a winner at all levels of hockey. He won Stanley Cups as a player, a Calder Cup as a coach in the AHL, and even coached in the big time. His rise to greatness wasn't without its problems however. In honor of the man nicknamed "King", the NHL introduced a trophy to be awarded annually to the player who leads on, and off the ice, but also makes a significant contribution to the community.
